Political activist Young Bob says Metropolitan Police officers have dropped an investigation against him without further action, shortly after he reported being released on bail with restrictions on entering central London and attending some demonstrations.
The activist, also known as Thomas Moffitt, publicised his arrest in a series of posts after an encounter at a London protest. Circulating footage shows him close to officers in a crowd, but the available clips do not establish the precise grounds for the arrest or what was said immediately beforehand.
What Young Bob says happened
In an initial statement on X, Young Bob said he had been released on bail. He claimed the conditions prevented him from entering central London, including Westminster, and from attending or reporting on what he described as “Gen Z-style protests” elsewhere in the UK.
“First of all, I’m banned from central London, including Westminster, and I’m also prohibited from attending or reporting on any Gen Z-style protests taking place in the UK.”

He described the restrictions as an attempt to stop him doing his work, criticised his duty solicitor and asserted that police had not produced statements from witnesses involved in the protest. These are his allegations, not independently established findings about the investigation.
The footage was circulated alongside commentary alleging the incident involved a racially offensive term. Young Bob reportedly maintained that he had been discussing the word rather than directing it at another person. Fish 4 News has not independently established the complete exchange or the alleged offence.
He now claims the case has been closed
In a further statement circulating on 27 October 2026, the activist said he had received a telephone call from the Metropolitan Police telling him the case had been closed with no further action.
“I’ve received a phone call from the Metropolitan Police informing me that the case has been dropped with no further action.”

He also claimed to have been arrested seven times without being charged. Fish 4 News has not independently verified that account or obtained a police statement confirming the reported no-further-action decision. A decision to take no further action in one investigation would not, by itself, establish that an arrest or bail conditions were unlawful.
What do the reported restrictions mean?
The original wording matters. Young Bob claimed a restriction on central London, not a permanent ban from the whole of London. The restrictions he described were pre-charge bail conditions, not a court sentence or a criminal conviction.
Under Home Office guidance on pre-charge bail, police must be satisfied that bail and any conditions are necessary and proportionate. The guidance says conditions should not be punitive, unreasonably restrictive or wider than needed to manage identifiable risks.
Police do not necessarily need a statement from an alleged victim in every public order investigation. Equally, whether restrictions interfering with movement or protest reporting were justified in this particular case cannot be determined without the precise conditions, police rationale and evidence.
Who is Young Bob?
Young Bob is a social media activist associated with anti-immigration campaigning and filmed street debates. YorkMix identified him as Thomas Moffitt when reporting on protests surrounding his appearance in York in September 2026.
What police have said
Fish 4 News has not located a Metropolitan Police statement specifically confirming the latest arrest, the alleged bail terms or the reported decision to close the case. Those points currently rest on Young Bob’s statements. This article will be updated if an official account becomes available.
